Polish book launch

Witold Szabłowski’s The Assassin from Apricot City: Reportage from Turkey, translated from the Polish by Antonia Lloyd-Jones is about to be released by Stork Press, and in the run up to publication there will be a book launch tonight, November 21, at London’s Free Word Centre. Both the author and translator will be there, as well as some wine. And in spite of the presence of this third enticement, I will not be able to attend because, well, it’s in London, and I’m not.

Szabłowski’s book covering his travels through Turkey, due out on November 30, has already received a lot of acclaim, having won an English PEN Award 2013, an European Parliament Journalism Award 2011 and a Beata Pawlak Award 2011, as well as having been nominated for Poland’s most prestigious literary award, the 2011 Nike Prize.

The book launch starts at 6:30 G.M.T. and you can get all the info here
