Bogdan Suceava on ‘Miruna’ in Prague

Romanian writer Bogdan Suceavă will be speaking on the sources of his recently translated into English novella Miruna, a Tale, more precisely, he’ll be speaking about “Folklore, Myth, and History: Merging the Real with the Unreal in Romanian Storytelling”, which I’m willing to bet is something very few of you are capable of speaking about. I can’t, which is one reason why on Friday, June 12 at 5:30 I will be at the Anglo-American University Library to hear him.

Besides Miruna, Suceavă’s novel Coming from an Off-Key Time is also available in English, both translated by Alistair Ian Blyth.

And he was born in my father’s home town, at the foothills of the Carpathian mountains… it doesn’t get more historical and mythical than that…
