Ludovic Bruckstein stories

For the occassion of Holocaust Remembrance Day, Istros Books is publishing Ludovic Bruckstein’s collection With an Unopened Umbrella in the Pouring Rain, translated from the Romanian by Alistair Ian Blyth.

Bookanista has an excerpt from the novel here as well as a review of a pair of novellas published by Istros as The Trap.

There will be a virtual publication launch today, (actually in a few minutes, so hurry), hosted by the Romanian Cultural Institute in London.

Bruckstein was born in Mukachevo in 1920, then a part of Czechoslovakia, now Ukraine, and grew up in Sighet, Northern Transylvania, the site of a large Jewish community. He died in 1988.
